Ray Krussell is a nationally recognized and highly respected horse trainer and USEF Judge and specializes in training and showing American Saddlebred Horses and Hackney Ponies. Ray has over 20 years of professional horse training experience and has produced many World Champion horses and riders. His clients are attracted not only to his ability to win, but also to his passionate dedication to the horses and riders in his care. Ray learned early on that it was important to give back to the industry that has given so much to him. He has worked on numerous show boards and committees and is currently serving as the Chapter 10 Chairman for United Professional Horseman’s Association.
Wendy Carney is the Business Manager at Krussell Stables in addition to being in charge of the large lesson program. Wendy has over 20 years business experience & her knowledge of finance & business management have been a key to their success. Wendy is a sports enthusiast & proved herself as a Division 1 college volleyball player at Bradley University where she was inducted in the Hall of Fame for her accomplishments on the court. As a high level athlete Wendy has the experience and techniques to ensure their students are physically & mentally prepared for competition. Wendy has been riding, showing & teaching Saddleseat riding for over 20 years.
Eileen Byrne has been involved with the American Saddlebred for over 28 years. She grew up in the Chicagoland area as a horse crazy kid and was finally able to act on her passion as an adult. Eileen purchased her first American Saddlebred horse, Johnny Luck in 1994. Eileen owned this wonderful horse for 15 years in which time he became a true friend to Eileen and also proved to be a very kind teacher to Krussell Stables students. Eileen is a fantastic instructor and has over 20 years experience in teaching Saddleseat riding. Eileen is very kind, caring and patient and these attributes are exhibited while she is teaching, as well as caring for the horses at Krussell Stables.
Marle Novatnik is an avid horse lover and has been riding and working with horses of different breeds and disciplines for over 18 years but her favorite are American Saddlebreds and Saddleseat riding. Marle joined Krussell Stables as an instructor in 2016 has been a great addition to our staff. She has a great deal of experience teaching all levels of rider from beginner to advanced, and all ages from toddlers to adults. Horses are a huge part of Marle’s life and she enjoys sharing her passion with her riding students. Marle is an animal lover and when not at the barn enjoys rehabbing and fostering animals in need and spending time with her two cats, dog and horse.
Krussell Stables is located on 14 acres in scenic Richmond, Illinois. We are approximately a one hour drive from both Chicago O'Hare Airport and Milwaukee Mitchell Airport.
The farm was completely renovated and is now a state of the art equestrian facility that is home to our American Saddlebred show horses and our bustling lesson program.
Our facility features a climate controlled and nicely appointed customer lounge that has a large viewing window into the riding arena so you won’t miss any of the action. The customer lounge offers wireless internet service and Direct TV to make your time at the barn pleasant and productive. With over 40 animals on the property there is always something to do and see during your visit.
